R.A. Dickey and the Atlanta Braves will try to capture a series win when they wrap up a four-game set against the Miami Marlins Sunday at SunTrust Park.
Dickey for the most part has been the Braves’ most consistent starter this season but he will be looking to recover from a rough outing last time out. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings in his last start allowing eight hits and seven runs (six earned) including two home runs in a loss to Texas. It was the first time Dickey had allowed more than four runs in a start since June 13.
Dickey is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in two starts against the Marlins this season allowing six runs in 13 innings.
Miami will counter with right hander Odrisamer Despaigne who will be making his fifth start and 14th appearance overall. Despaigne is 0-3 on the season with a 3.32 ERA in his four starts. He held the Nationals in check in his last outing allowing five hits and one run over seven innings.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 54th home run in the first inning of Saturday’s game. Stanton is hitting .250/.328/.635 with six home runs this season against Atlanta pitching. After a scorching hot August he is 4-for-29 through nine games in September. Of course three of those four hits left the yard.
