The Atlanta Braves look to snap a four-game losing streak Thursday night when they wrap up a three-game set against the Nationals. R.A. Dickey will take the mound for the Braves while Washington will counter with right hander Tanner Roark.
Dickey is looking to snap out of a rough stretch of three games where he has allowed 16 runs in just 14 1/3 innings. He has struggled to command his knuckleball and has walked eight batters over his last three starts. He walked seven total through five starts in August. Dickey is 0-2 with a 5.92 ERA in four starts against the Nationals this season.
While Dickey has struggled, Roark is in the midst of his best stretch of the season. He allowed four hits and two runs against the Braves last Thursday and has allowed three runs or less in 12 of his last 13 starts. Roark is 6-2 with a 2.80 ERA in 18 career appearances against Atlanta.
The Braves could get catcher Tyler Flowers back in the lineup in time for tonight’s game. Flowers has been dealing with a bruised hand after being hit by a pitch. Ender Inciarte sat out Wednesday’s game due to a sore thumb and is likely to sit again on Thursday.
