Braves fall to Mets 7-1

The Braves dropped their third straight Thursday night in a 7-1 loss to the New York Mets. Ozzie Albies recorded three hits on the night but walks and suspect defense ultimately sealed Atlanta’s fate. The Braves will open up their final series of the season in Miami on Thursday.

Newcomb knows he can build off rookie season

Sean Newcomb gave up three runs over five innings Thursday night. While his season overall was a bit uneven due to the same control problems that have plagued him throughout the minors, Newcomb flashed enough potential to show that he can be a part of the team’s future.

The Braves bullpen needs major improvement in 2018

Coming into the season, Atlanta thought their bullpen was in good shape. It has turned out to be the opposite and one of the major areas the team will need to improve if they hope to be successful in 2018.

If not Dickey, then Fried would start Braves’ finale

The Braves have yet to announce a starter for Sunday’s series finale but if R.A. Dickey wants it then it will be his according to manager Brian Snitker. If Dickey declines then the nod will likely go to lefty Max Fried.

The Chicago Cubs locked up the NL Central with a 5-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday night. Chicago is eyeing an NLDS matchup against the Washington Nationals.

MLB owners approve sale of Marlins

MLB owners unanimously approved the transfer of ownership of the Miami Marlins from Jeffrey Loria to a group led by Bruce Sherman and Derek Jeter on Thursday. The deal is expected to be officially closed on Monday.
