Julio Teheran looks to continue his hot streak and help the Atlanta Braves avoid a sweep in Game 2 of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Texas Rangers. Atlanta dropped Game 1 12-6 in Luiz Gohara’s major league debut.
Teheran has put together his best stretch of the season of late having allowed just seven earned runs over his past four starts amassing 27 innings pitched. He’s allowed just one home run during that span and has struck out 27 while batters while walking just seven. Teheran allowed five hits and one run and struck out a season-high eight over 6 2/3 innings in his last start against the Phillies.
Texas will counter with Hamels who will be making his first start against Atlanta since 2015. However, Hamels is no stranger to the Braves having made 35 starts against them in his career while going 16-9 with a 3.11 ERA. Hamels has gone 9-2 this season with a 3.92 ERA in 18 starts this season. He has struggled a bit of late allowing a combined 10 earned runs over his last start two starts.
