Max Fried will make his second career start as the Braves continue their series with the Marlins Saturday night at SunTrust Park.
Fried pitched well in his first career start limiting the Cubs to four hits and one run over five innings in a rare win in Chicago. Fried’s made five appearances overall allowing five runs in 11 2/3 innings pitched.
Miami will counter with left hander Adam Conley who is 6-7 on the season with a 5.09 ERA in 17 games. Conley surrendered five hits and four runs in his lone start against the Braves this season back on August 4. He allowed four hits and three runs including two homers in four innings in his last start against the Nationals.
The Braves are expected to be without right fielder Nick Markakis for the third straight game due to an injured wrist. Markakis suffered the injury while making a diving catch in Wednesday’s game. Test results were negative and Atlanta is hoping to have him back next week.
Giancarlo Stanton is just 3-for-24 in September and was given the day off on Friday.
