When the Braves dealt for Preston Tucker from the Astros, the roster crunch at that point meant that someone was going to have to be bumped off and immediately after that, it was made known that the odd man out was going to be Luke Jackson as he was designated for assignment.
It appears he will remain with the Braves organization after today’s official announcement.
RHP Luke Jackson has been outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) January 4, 2018
Despite having stuff that has been electric at times in his career, his time in the Atlanta Braves bullpen was less than stellar as he posted a 4.62 ERA in 43 appearances with the club (50.2 innings) and opponents batted .278 against him during his stay with the big club.
Jackson will likely remain in Gwinnett for the foreseeable future given some of the new options that GM Alex Anthopoulos has brought in to try out in the bullpen in addition to some prospects inevitably getting a look there as well. However, he could easily get called up in a pinch if there was a short-term need for some relief help.
