Pipeline poll: Ohtani, Acuna, Whitley tops in execs’ eyes

Speaking of prospects, Jim Callis over at MLB Pipeline polled a group of club executives on who is Baseball’s best overall prospect. Shohei Ohtani finished first with 10 votes but Ronald Acuna was second with eight. Of course we all know that Ohtani really shouldn’t be classified as a prospect.

Why Andruw Jones should stay on Hall of Fame Ballot

“He hit a ton of home runs and he played the greatest center field,” Smoltz recalled. “He affected the pitching staff. He saved bases. He saved runs. … He took away base hits in front of him. He had such a great first step.”
