We have finally reached the point of the offseason where there are actual rumors involving actual players and actual teams and there is actual baseball being played. I know it is crazy, but bear with us as we adjust to this new development.

Last night, the Rays got the ball rolling a bit with a trade of Jake Odorizzi to the Twins and DFAing Corey Dickerson. The latter of those two are more important at the moment to Braves fans because there are some reports that the Braves could be in play to trade for Dickerson as they are known to be actively looking for an outfielder.

This morning, it became known that in addition to looking for outfield help, the Braves were apparently moving closer to a reunion with an old friend to bolster their bullpen which was among the worst in baseball last year.

The Braves bullpen last season was in the bottom five in all of Major League Baseball in terms of fWAR last season, but has some promising pieces this season including potential closer AJ Minter. Alex Anthopoulos also hinted that with so many starting pitching prospects that some could see significant time in the Braves’ bullpen which, at the very least, would be a welcome injection of talent in the relief corps. However, the addition of Moylan, who was excellent for the Royals last season especially against righties, would provide a steady presence out of the bullpen and a guy who by all accounts is a big plus in the clubhouse.

Peter Moylan played parts of eight seasons with the Braves and posted a 2.62 ERA in 317 appearances with the team. The 39 year old righty does have a pair of Tommy John surgeries under his belt, but has been able to stay healthy over the last couple of seasons while remaining productive for the Royals.
