Highlights and postgame interviews from Atlanta’s Opening Day win over Philadelphia

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

There were plenty of fireworks in the Atlanta Braves’ come-from-behind 8-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Opening Day but none bigger than Nick Markakis’ three-run walk-off in the bottom of the ninth. The Braves erased a five-run deficit and got the season off on a good note.

Freddie Freeman got things started in the sixth as he jumped all over an inside fastball to put the Braves on the board and cut the deficit to 5-2.

Ozzie Albies brought the Braves closer in the eighth with a long solo home run to left center.

Preston Tucker tied things up later in the eighth with a clutch single to center.

Markakis came to the plate after the Phillies elected to walk Freddie Freeman with a base open. Safe to say he made them pay for that decision.
