Braves recall Lucas Sims, designate Luke Jackson for assignment

Braves bringing in a fresh arm for the bullpen

The Atlanta Braves added a fresh arm to the bullpen by recalling pitcher Lucas Sims from Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the roster, the team designated reliever Luke Jackson for assignment.

Sims threw four scoreless innings in his only outing for Gwinnett allowing three hits and two walks to go along with seven strikeouts. He made 14 appearances for the Braves last season posting a 5.62 ERA in 57.2 innings.

Jackson was designated for assignment in spring training but went unclaimed and was outrighted to Gwinnett. He was recalled a little over a week ago but pitched sparingly getting into just two games. He allowed one hit, two runs and hit a batter in just a third of an inning in Saturday’s eighth inning meltdown.
