The Atlanta Braves announced on Wednesday that they have placed pitcher Anibal Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain. The team will call up infielder Johan Camargo from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his spot on the active roster. Camargo will be in uniform in time for tonight’s game.
The #Braves placed RHP Anibal Sanchez on the 10-day DL with a right hamstring strain sustained prior to tonight's game. INF Johan Camargo, coming off his third-straight multi-hit game, has been reinstated from DL and will join team for tonight's game.— Gabe Burns (@GabeBurnsAJC) April 18, 2018
Sanchez was injured while running in the outfield during pregame workouts. He was down motionless for several minutes while being attended to by Braves’ trainers before eventually being carted off the field.
Sanchez has been excellent early on for Atlanta allowing just 11 hits and two earned runs over his first 14 innings. He was scheduled to start tomorrow’s series opener against the Mets. Atlanta has yet to announce updated pitching plans but could opt to move everyone up a day since they were operating on an extra day of rest. The team could also elect to give the start to Lucas Sims who was called up over the weekend.
Camargo suffered an oblique injury during spring training and began the season on the disabled list. He got off to a slow start on his rehab assignment but has played better of late.
