For those that remember last season when Freddie Freeman was hit by a pitch in the wrist resulting in a lengthy DL stint, that was not fun. Sure, the Braves managed to snag Matt Adams in a trade to lessen the blow, but you don’t lose a player like Freddie Freeman and not feel a bit of a sting.
Well, it was the worst kind of deja vu on Wednesday night as Freddie Freeman was hit by a pitch in pretty much the exact same spot in the eighth inning.

Exiting the game quickly isn’t usually the best sign, but it could easily be a precautionary move given how late in the game it was and with Freeman’s history. With Anibal Sanchez getting hurt in pre-game workouts and now this, it has been a trying time for the Braves’ training staff.
We will have more as this develops and the team provides more details.
