Freddie Freeman listed as “day-to-day” by Braves following wrist incident

He’s okay!

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at Atlanta Braves Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

During Wednesday night’s game against the Phillies, Freddie Freeman got hit in his left wrist and we all feared the worst. After all, his reaction to getting beaned in that tender spot was very similar to the reaction that he had when a fastball took six weeks of his season away from him last year.

Even though there were multiple reporters stating that there was reason for optimism, that didn’t stop us all from waiting on pins and needles for the official word as to whether or not Freddie Freeman was once again seriously injured.

The good news is that the optimism from late last night was well-founded, because the Braves have announced that Freddie Freeman is officially day-to-day after the test results came back negative.

He won’t even have to do a 10-day DL stint, which is definitely good news. Naturally, Freddie Freeman is already chomping at the bit to get back on the field and that shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody who has followed his career when it comes to injury situations.

While there may be a debate as to whether or not you want to see the guy back on the field after such a scare, the point is that Freddie Freeman’s wrist is still intact and didn’t receive another fracture. He’s okay — the franchise and the fans can finally breathe easy after an anxious night.
