Ronald Acuña to debut as Braves continue series against Reds

Acuña makes his major league debut while Atlanta tries to snap a two-game losing streak in Cincinnati

MLB: Spring Training-Atlanta Braves at New York Yankees Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Ronald Acuña is set to make his major league debut with the Atlanta Braves Wednesday when they continue their series against the Cincinnati Reds. Acuna was informed that he would be getting called up late Tuesday night and will join the team in Cincinnati on Wednesday.

The Braves dropped the first two games of the series with the Reds in disappointing fashion. Atlanta’s bullpen imploded Monday night allowing eight runs in a 10-4 loss. The Braves rallied from a four-run deficit in the ninth but faltered again in the 12th in a 9-7 loss.

Matt Wisler will be making his second start of the season and looking to build off of a strong debut. Wisler replaced the injured Anibal Sanchez and was aggressive allowing two hitsand one run while striking out eight in a win over the Mets.

The Reds will counter with left hander Brandon Finnegan who has struggled in each of his two starts. Control has been Finnegan’s biggest issue having walked eight in just 7.1 innings. He walked four and allowed four runs in just three innings last time out against the Cardinals.
