The Atlanta Braves are back in action on Saturday evening and, with an opportunity to even the series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Brian Snitker will deploy the following lineup.
As noted above, Tyler Flowers is in the starting lineup for the first time this season. The veteran catcher was activated prior to Friday night’s series opener but did not appear.
In addition to the infusion of Flowers, Ronald Acuña makes his first career appearance in the No. 5 spot. This provides some level of optimism that the youngster could continue to arise and, eventually, could split the left-handed duo of Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis.
It is also interesting to see Ryan Flaherty making his third consecutive start at the hot corner, though it is noteworthy that Philadelphia will send a right-hander to the mound in the form of Nick Pivetta.
For the Phillies, Gabe Kapler fills out the lineup card in this way.
It would be encouraging to see Mike Foltynewicz put together an effective (and lengthy) start in this spot, with the Phillies possessing a capable but unspectacular lineup. The Braves-killing force that is Odubel Herrera looms in the background.
Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest.
