McCarthy, Braves look for another series win against Philadelphia

Braves are looking for their third series win over the Phillies in 2018.

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Cincinnati Reds David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves will be looking for their third series win against the Philadelphia Phillies this season when they wrap up a three-game set on Sunday. Atlanta fell in the opener on Friday but bounced back with a 4-1 win Saturday behind a strong performance by Mike Foltynewicz.

Brandon McCarthy will be on the mound for Atlanta while Philadelphia will counter with Vince Velasquez.

McCarthy wasn’t sharp in his last outing against the Reds allowing six hits, including two home runs, and five runs (3 earned) over five innings. He has been given a lot of run support in his two previous starts against the Phillies but has pitched well allowing 11 hits and just three earned runs in 10.2 innings.

Velasquez lasted just 4.2 innings in his last start allowing four hits and four runs in a loss to the Diamondbacks. He hasn’t had much luck against the Braves so far this season allowing seven earned runs in just 8.2 innings.
