Braves release outfielder Peter Bourjos

Atlanta cuts outfielder loose.

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Colorado Rockies Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves announced on Sunday that they have released veteran outfielder Peter Bourjos. Bourjos was designated for assignment on April 25 to make room for Ronald Acuña Jr. on the active roster.

Bourjos signed with the Braves as a free agent at the end of spring training and appeared in 18 games going 3-for-25 while filling in mostly as a late inning defensive replacement.

Bourjos is the second outfielder this week to depart the organization. Lane Adams rejected an assignment to Triple-A earlier this week and became a free agent. Atlanta’s outfield is pretty much set with Acuña in left, Ender Inciarte in center and Nick Markakis in right with Preston Tucker shifting into a bench role.
