The Atlanta Braves shook up their lineup and then shook up the Phillies with a 10-1 win on Sunday to secure another series win. Ozzie Albies moved to the top of the order and homered on the first pitch of the game. Ender Inciarte was dropped to ninth in the order and finished a home run shy of the cycle.
Julio Teheran completed a bullpen session on Sunday and appears to be on track to make his next scheduled start on Wednesday. The Braves had top pitching prospect Mike Soroka scratched from his Sunday start just in case Teheran was unable to go.
Fox Sports’ Zach Dillard writes that Ronald Acuna’s first week in the majors shows that the hype surrounding the top prospect was very real.
Atlanta continued its purge of outfielders on Sunday with the release of Peter Bourjos. Bourjos was designated for assignment earlier this week to make room for Ronald Acuna Jr. on the active roster.
Braves outfield prospect Cristian Pache had a big week and takes home Talking Chop’s Minor League Player of the Week honor.
Pirates prospect Nick Kingman carried a perfect game into the seventh inning of his major league debut against the Cardinals.
Padres outfielder Wil Myers suffered an oblique injury in Sunday’s game and was placed on the 10-day disabled list. Paul DeJong broke it up with a single to left with two outs in the inning.
Apparently there are plenty of oblique injuries to go around. Diamondbacks starter Robbie Ray left Sunday’s start after just 1.1 innings with what was determined an oblique strain and is likely headed to the disabled list.
