Bautista appeared in 12 games for Atlanta and slashed .143/.250/.343 with two home runs. In recent days, Bautista’s playing time had started to diminish of late and it was becoming clear that this was the inevitable move.
Taking a flyer on Bautista wasn’t a bad move for Anthopoulos and the Braves. However, after struggling for most of 2017 it appears that it may be the end of the line for the veteran.
The Braves will recall RHP Lucas Sims to take Bautista’s place on the active roster.
Here is Anthopoulos discussing the move.

More from Johan Camargo:
Camargo: "first and foremost, I'm kind of sad to see Jose go. He's a great ballplayer and it was great to have him here. Obviously, I'm grateful for the opportunity and excited for it" #Braves @680TheFan https://t.co/eULjjz8ur0
