On Tuesday night, things are, for the most part, going great for the Braves. Ozzie Albies hit a grand slam, Freddie Freeman hit another homer, Nick Markakis continues to hit just about everything, and Mike Foltynewicz was absolutely dealing. Unfortunately, the latter’s night came to a premature end.
RHP Mike Foltynewicz left tonight’s game due to triceps tightness.

Foltynewicz had been pitching very well again as he had put up five scoreless innings with two hits, no walks, and six strikeouts. However, after hitting for himself, he went to talk to pitching coach Chuck Hernandez and despite being at only 73 pitches, Folty came out of the game for the already warmed up Jesse Biddle. This turned into its own adventure as the Mets put two quick runs up before the Braves offense woke up.
No word yet on the severity of the injury, but given the circumstances it doesn’t appear to be a major issue since Folty wasn’t seen being tended to urgently by the training staff. However, this is a situation worth monitoring given that Foltynewicz has been one of, if not the best pitcher for the Braves in 2018.
