The Atlanta Braves got their homestand off on a good note with a two-game sweep of the New York Mets. Now they will look to keep that going Thursday night when they open a four-game set against the San Diego Padres.
The Braves dropped 2-of-3 in San Diego on their previous road trip so they will be looking for some measure of revenge this time around. Anibal Sanchez will get the start in Thursday’s opener and will be looking to continue his recent run of success. Sanchez struggled in his first game back from a stint on the disabled list but has regained his form over his last two outings. He’s allowed just five hits and two earned runs over his last 12 1/3 innings against the Nationals and the Dodgers.
The Padres will counter with right hander Tyson Ross who has put together his own solid start to the season. Ross has a 3.43 ERA in 13 starts and has struck out 78 batters in 76 innings. He allowed six hits and three earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in his last start against Miami. San Diego has won six straight games that Ross has started.
