Gwinnett Stripers relief pitcher Josh Ravin was hit in the head by a line drive while pitching on Thursday night.
From the @GoStripers Twitter account:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Josh Ravin, who was just struck in the head by a hard line drive hit back up the middle. He got up under his own power to take a seat on the Gator along with our trainer, Nick Jensen.”
The fact that Ravin was able to get up under his own power before leaving the game is an encouraging sign, although he will surely undergo testing later tonight.
The Stripers were facing the Durham Bulls and will be there through the weekend.
Ravin, 30, came over from the Dodgers this past winter. He’s spent most of the season with Gwinnett, although he did appear in two games for the big league Braves earlier in the year.
We will bring you any updates on his condition once it’s made available.
