Braves, Newcomb attempt to get back to winning ways against Padres

Sean Newcomb will get the ball today in Atlanta and will attempt to get the Braves back on track.

After a rough loss to the Padres last night the Braves are ready for another chance against San Diego with Sean Newcomb leading the charge.

Sean Newcomb is looking to get back on the winning track after a less than desirable start in Los Angeles last Sunday. The loss Sunday was Newcomb’s first since his opening start of the season and the Padres seem like a good team to get a new winning streak started against. Newcomb was all over the Padres in his last start against them on the west coast by not allowing a run over six scoreless innings.

The Padres will send out Jordan Lyles who has been less than stellar this season while sporting a 4.83 ERA. In fact the Braves have already roughed up Lyles once this season to the tune of eight earned runs in just 4.1 innings and lifetime against the Braves holds a 6.35 ERA.

The Braves need to take advantage of rolling out one of their best starters today by backing him with some early run support to take advantage of this part of the schedule consisting of some pretty bad teams. Hopefully we’ll see some fireworks this afternoon that were lacking last night for the Braves.
