Teheran returns with a vengeance against Padres as Braves take series with 4-1 win
Julio Teheran returned from the disabled list on Sunday and turned in his best performance of the season throwing six no-hit innings while striking out 11 against the Padres. The Braves take 3-of-4 in the series and increase their lead in the NL East to 3.5 games.
Kurt Suzuki leaves game after being hit in head by bat
It wasn’t all good news for Atlanta on Sunday as catcher Kurt Suzuki exited the game in the top of the second after he was struck in the head on a swing by San Diego’s Raffy Lopez. Tests for a concussion however came back negative and Suzuki is expected to be available for Tuesday’s game in Toronto.
Braves option Luiz Gohara to Triple-A
Atlanta made a roster move prior to Sunday’s game optioning LHP Luiz Gohara to Triple-A Gwinnett. Gohara will throw a bullpen on Monday and is expected to start for the Stripers on Thursday. To replace him on the active roster, Atlanta signed Luke Jackson to a major-league contract. Jackson was designated for assignment by the club and had declared free agency on Friday.

The San Francisco Giants have reportedly inked former Georgia Tech catcher and No. 2 pick Joey Bart to a $7.025 million signing bonus. That is the largest upfront bonus for a position player in draft history.
Mets activate closer Jeurys Familia
The Mets activated closer Jeurys Familia from the 10-day disabled list on Sunday. He had been sidelined since June 8 due to a sore right shoulder.
