Braves News
Johan goes upper deck and Charlie Culberson turns into a defensive wizard in win
Johan Camargo went 4-for-5 out of the 9th spot in the lineup and was a one man wrecking crew. Charlie Culberson was also a huge boost by hitting a home run and also running down a flyball in the first inning and crashing into the wall while saving two runs (at least) in the process. Mike Soroka was somewhat shaky in his fifth start but was backed by some big time run support.
Don’t get overly expectant of the Braves around the trade deadline
The Braves most likely will not make a huge splash at the trade deadline but no one seems to think they need to right now. Although they may not make a huge trade they may still go after some smaller pieces to bolster their bullpen.
Can the Braves keep up with Playoff caliber pitching?
The answer seems to be an unknown despite the Atlanta squad’s good record against the top line starters that the Braves have faced. The doubt that the Braves can keep up their winning ways against this top pitching is the fact that these top aces have a collective 3.31 ERA against the Atlanta offense.
A preview of the Danville Braves roster
Danville kicked off their season last night. The Braves’ rookie ball team consists of draft picks ranging from 2016-to-2018 and is led by 2018 second round pick Greyson Jenista. Most guys on the roster will be heavily regulated in playing time due to some players just finishing up either a long collegiate season or having not played recently due to injury.
MLB News
Major League Baseball released the updated ballot totals for the American League just a day after announcing the NL update which has three Braves players slated to start if current voting totals hold.
The Rockies went back-to-back-to-back on New York
The Mets are currently a mess and the Rockies took full advantage thanks to a buzzsaw of Rockies that went back-to-back-to-back against poor Jason Vargas. It would seem the Mets window is now completely shut and its quite possible a team breakup is coming soon.
The Orioles blow several leads in loss to Nationals
Baltimore had several chances to win the game against Washington, which would have really helped the Braves out, but could not capitalize because... well, they’re the Orioles. Things are going south in a hurry in Baltimore and it’s going to get ugly.
