Vizcaino dealing with right shoulder pain
Braves’ closer Arodys Vizcaino continues to deal with pain in his right shoulder. Vizcaino hasn’t pitched since last Sunday and was unavailable again for Saturday’s loss against the Orioles due to lingering soreness. Brian Snitker told MLB.com’s Mark Bowman that the club is going to have to be mindful of Vizcaino’s workload going forward.
“It’s one of those spots in the year with him,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “We went through it a couple times with him last year. There are times, he’s going to have to be down just to get him through the year.”
Lucas Sims recalled from Gwinnett, Preston Tucker optioned
Needing a fresh arm for the bullpen, Atlanta recalled RHP Lucas Sims prior to Saturday’s game and optioned outfielder Preston Tucker. Sims wasn’t used on Saturday and had been slated to start for Gwinnett. He will slide into the long relief role now. After a good start to the season, Tucker’s opportunities have dwindled of late and he will head down where he can see some consistent playing time.
