The Atlanta Braves will try to bounce back from Saturday’s 5-3 loss when they wrap up their four-game series against the Washington Nationals on Sunday. Atlanta won the first two games of the series but their bats largely fell silent yesterday in a 14-inning loss.
Right-hander Anibal Sanchez will be on the mound for the Braves and will be looking for better results after a rough start last time out. Sanchez spent more than a month on the disabled list due to a strained hamstring and was not sharp in his return. He lasted just four innings allowing five hits and four runs including two homers to the Mets.
Sanchez was lights out before suffering the injury and had allowed just two runs over 14 innings spanning three appearances.
The Nationals will counter with right-hander Jeremy Hellickson who has been a major surprise so far this season. Hellickson has made eight starts this season and has allowed two runs or less in seven of them. He’s been really good in May allowing just four runs in five starts spanning 27 2/3 innings.
