Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap 6/4: Touki throws six strong innings

Shortened slate of games as Touki had another strong performance

Garrett Spain

Mississippi Braves 0, Montgomery Biscuits 3

Box Score

  • Tyler Neslony, RF: 1-3, 2B, .256/.296/.325
  • Daniel Lockhart, 3B: 1-3, 2B, .262/.340/.413
  • Touki Toussaint, SP: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 ER), 2 BB, 4 K, 3.52 ERA

Touki Toussaint pitched well for Mississippi, but the offense failed to show up as the Braves fell to the Biscuits by the score of 3-0. Touki allowed just an unearned run over his six innings of work. He has vastly improved this year with his walks coming down and the ones he has given up more the result of not getting close calls rather than any issues with command. Adam McCreery came on in relief and struggled with two runs in two innings before Jacob Webb came on to close things out for Mississippi.

On offense....yeah, not much here. Tyler Neslony had a double, which is fortunate since it was just his fourth hit over his last six games as he has been struggling a bit for a while. Daniel Lockhart had a double as well and the rest of the Mississippi roster combined for just three singles beyond that.

Florida Fire Frogs 2, Bradenton Marauders 5

Box Score

  • Cristian Pache, CF: 1-2, .293/.316/.420
  • Braxton Davidson, DH: 2-4, HR, RBI, .145/.257/.291
  • Jeremy Walker, SP: 3 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 4.84 ERA

The Fire Frogs struggled in his one as they were beaten by Bradenton by the final score of 5-2. Jeremy Walker required 72 pitches to get through three innings of work, but at least that meant some relievers who haven’t been able to get as much work in due to it raining constantly in Florida got some innings to work with. Unfortunately, the recently assigned Daysbel Hernandez was one of them and he gave up three runs in his two innings of work, although he did strike out four batters.

On offense, Cristian Pache had another hit before getting pulled in the third inning after two at-bats. No word if there was an injury or if they just wanted to give some playing time elsewhere. Braxton Davidson had a good game at the plate as he went 2-4 with a home run with the recently promoted Kurt Hoekstra and Marcus Mooney had multi-hit games for the Fire Frogs as well.
