Braves recall Preston Tucker from Gwinnett

The Braves have filled the roster spot vacated by Luiz Gohara.

When the Braves sent Luiz Gohara back down to Triple-A to get settled back into his role as a starter, it opened up a roster spot for a reinforcement for the Braves’ last series before the All-Star break. There was some merit to bringing up another pitcher (which may end up happening anyways before the end of that series) or to bolster the Braves’ bench which is....lacking in some ways.

While other options such as Michael Reed existed, the Braves went with a familiar face for this roster move.

Preston Tucker started the year off in the majors incredibly hot, but eventually cooled off and lost his starting spot once Ronald Acuna Jr. was promoted to the majors. However, Tucker was pretty strong as a pinch hitter before getting sent back to the minors to get some more regular playing time.

Tucker slashed .250/.298/.411 with three home runs in 56 games in the majors and has slashed .232/.259/.339 in 15 games in Triple-A.
