Julio Teheran looks to end first half on a good note

The Braves hope to head into the break on a good note Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

MLB: Toronto Blue Jays at Atlanta Braves Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves are limping their way to the All-Star break having lost eight of their last 10 games. They will look to avoid a sweep on Sunday when they wrap up a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Arizona has held Atlanta’s offense in check over the first two games of the series winning 2-1 on Friday night and 3-0 on Saturday. The Braves managed just four hits against Zach Greinke in Saturday’s loss and finished with five overall. Things won’t get any easier on Sunday when they face All-Star left-hander Patrick Corbin.

Corbin enters Sunday third in the National League in strikeouts with 146 trailing only Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom. He has allowed a total of four runs over his last four starts spanning 23.1 innings. Corbin equaled a season-high four walks while running up a high pitch count in his last start in which he allowed five hits and just two runs but exited after just 4.1 innings against the Rockies. He has allowed three runs or less in 15 of his 19 starts this season.

Atlanta will counter with Julio Teheran who will be looking to finish off an up and down first half with a good appearance. Teheran has see sawed between good and bad starts since returning from a DL stint on June 17. He was great last time out allowing three hits and one run over 6.2 innings against Toronto.
