The Braves have seemingly been lurking on the outskirts of the trade rumor mill so far. They were rumored to have put offers in for Manny Machado, Jeurys Familia, and others....but haven’t been the favorites to land anyone so far. In many respects, it looks as though the front office is waiting for the closing days of the trade deadline to see if any prices drop and/or new players become available.
However, that does not mean that they are sitting idle as they are rumored to at least still be talking to the Baltimore Orioles about a few players.
Have heard #brewers asked about Schoop and Gausman. #yankees have checked on Gausman. #braves have expressed interest in Schoop, Gausman and Bundy #orioles

Dylan Bundy is an interesting name as he is a guy that is long on talent, but injuries derailed his development as a prospect and has ERAs and FIPs north of 4 in each of the last three seasons. That said, he is posting a career-high K-rate this year and could be sort of a “buy-low” guy with some upside.
Kevin Gausman is doing some work for Baltimore in their rotation as well in accumulating 2.3 rWAR so far this season and he will certainly be a guy capable of throwing a good amount of innings. There doesn’t seem to be a ton of upside with him, but for a team that may be looking to stability in their rotation, the Braves could do worse.
Jonathan Schoop is a weird name for the Braves to be checking in on given their composition. Schoop is coming off a 5 rWAR season in 2017, but he has his warts as a hitter (only one season of an OBP over .300 for example) and the Braves are set, at least for this season, up the middle in the infield unless the team has completely soured on Dansby Swanson.
Regardless, its nice to see the Braves in the mix for some trades even if it doesn’t seem like anything is particularly close yet.
