Max Fried was placed on the disabled list July 5th with a finger blister but is back and ready to return to the Braves starting rotation and it couldn’t be better timing for the team as they’re on a major slide right now and could use a jolt from an exciting young player on the mound.
Fried threw nearly 7 innings of shutout ball against the Cardinals in St. Louis before getting hit hard in his last start against the Brewers before revealing his injury and being taken out of the game. Fried has shown flashes of what the Braves envisioned him to be this season with a 3.92 ERA.
His opponent is a familiar face in Alex Wood who has not had good luck against his former team with an ERA over 6 against the Braves in four starts. Overall on the season Wood is 6-5 with a 3.87 ERA which matches up pretty well with Fried’s numbers to set up for an exciting rubber match today.
Atlanta really could use a win after being handled rather easily by the Dodgers in the first two games of this series. Here is the info for today’s game and how you can watch or listen in.
