Joe Simpson apologizes for comments directed at Chase Utley, Dodgers

Simpson apologizes two days later after remarks about Dodgers

MLB: Winter Meetings Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Two days after calling Chase Utley and the Los Angeles Dodgers “unprofessional” for their batting practice attire, Braves’ broadcaster Joe Simpson has issued an apology.

Simpson made the comments during Saturday’s broadcast and showed footage of the Utley and the Dodgers taking BP in t-shirts. This drew outrage from many watching the broadcast and Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts said he considered it a “cheap shot.” It became a story for many outlets on Sunday morning which was also the same day of Chipper Jones’ Hall of Fame induction.

Simpson reportedly met with Utley face-to-face on Sunday and apologized but did not address the comments on Sunday’s broadcast.

I guess better late than never.
