Braves, Brewers reportedly still chasing Chris Archer

Will Atlanta spend prospect capital to add to the rotation?

There is a little over four hours remaining until Tuesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline and the rumors are still flowing. The Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly “grinding” to get a deal done with Tampa Bay according to a report by MLB Network Radio’s Jim Bowden.

To this point, Braves’ GM Alex Anthopoulos has not traded any of the Braves prospects despite making three minor deals to help shore up the roster. Atlanta is seeking rotation upgrades that still have additional years of team control. Archer fits that bill and has pitched well of late but is one of the most sought after players on the market. That has kept the asking price high and it remains to be seen whether or not it will come down or if Anthopoulos will be willing to meet it at all.

The San Diego Padres had been rumored to be pursuing Archer but those talks have reportedly cooled according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

Morosi also added that the Braves are the team to watch in regards to Archer so buckle up for what should be an interesting afternoon.

There is still time to get a deal finished and we will be following along throughout the day.
