The Atlanta Braves are adding a fresh arm to the bullpen for Wednesday’s series finale against the New York Yankees. The Braves announced Wednesday morning that they have recalled Luiz Gohara from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioned right handed Evan Phillips.

Gohara was sent down to Triple-A last month where he could see regular work as a starter. Since then he has made three appearances for Gwinnett totaling 11 innings while allowing nine hits and five earned runs. Without a clear defined role, Gohara has struggled at the major league level making seven appearances including one start for the Braves but allowing 12 earned runs in 15 2/3 innings. He will serve as a long relief option for the Braves on Wednesday but it remains to be seen how long he will remain in that role.
Phillips made his major league debut on Tuesday allowing one hit and two runs over 2 1/3 innings.
