Homers doom Braves in 6-2 loss to Yankees

The Braves were once again bitten by Yankee home runs on Wednesday, with Giancarlo Stanton and Kyle Higashioka each going deep against Julio Teheran. The Yankees jumped out to a 5-0 lead, giving CC Sabathia plenty of runs with which to work. The Atlanta offense would score twice, with Johan Camargo connecting for a solo homer in the sixth. New York was able to fend off multiple Braves rallies, taking the game and the series.

Braves interested in Manny Machado but focused on acquiring bullpen help

The Braves are reportedly interested in Orioles shortstop Manny Machado, according to Jon Morosi. Atlanta is also interested in controllable relief arms according to Morosi, and are intrigued by the buyers’ market that exists for relief pitching. Machado seems like a long-shot for the Braves due to his expiring contract and price, but dipping into the pitching market seems a likely bet.

Touki Toussaint promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett

The Braves promoted RHP Touki Toussaint from Double-A Mississippi to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, adding yet another high-profile arm to the rotation at the highest minor league affiliate. Toussaint had been dominant in Double-A, and now will be another step closer to joining the major league club.
