The pitching staff shuffle continues.
In 2017, after a very successful season in Rome that saw him rocket up prospect rankings, Max Fried struggled in Double-A. While some would just assume that those struggles had to do with facing more advanced competition, the root of Max's problems were actually issues with blisters on his pitching hand. Regardless of those issues, the Braves had him debut and he has shown flashes of brilliance in limited stints in the majors.
It appears as though those blisters have popped up again.
#Braves placed LHP Max Fried (left middle finger blister) on the 10-day DL and recalled RHP Evan Phillips from Triple-A Gwinnett.

After a really strong start against the Cardinals, Fried struggled mightily against the Brewers as he could not command his pitches at all. Hopefully a short DL stint will allow the blister to heal and he will be able to go back out there.
In a corresponding move, Evan Phillips was recalled from Gwinnett again. The young reliever will give the Braves bullpen a fresh arm with upside. Hopefully he can stay for a little longer than one appearance this time.
