Atlanta Braves News
The Atlanta Braves are among the the teams that have submitted a formal offer to the Baltimore Orioles for infielder Manny Machado according to a report by the Baltimore Sun’s Eduardo Encina. Atlanta doesn’t appear to be the frontrunner but it may provide some insight into how they are looking at this season.
Anibal Sanchez allowed just two hits and one run over 6 2/3 innings on Saturday to help the Atlanta Braves snap a four-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Freddie Freeman snapped out of his slump with a three-hit day and finished a homer shy of the cycle. Ozzie Albies added two more hits as Atlanta improved to 5-4 on its current 10-game road trip.
Ronald Acuña Jr sat out Saturday’s win but could return to the lineup as soon as Sunday. Acuña left Friday’s game in the seventh inning after he suffered a strained groin while legging out an infield single. The Braves have an off day on Monday and could opt to give Acuña three straight off days but as of now, it sounds like Brian Snitker is at least open to the option of him returning to the lineup on Sunday.
The Braves expect Julio Teheran to make his scheduled start on Tuesday when the team returns home to face the Toronto Blue Jays. Teheran was sent home to rest following his last start after he wasn’t feeling well. Atlanta has still not announced a starter for Wednesday’s game but the favorite could be Mike Foltynewicz who would be on regular rest due to an off day on Monday.
