Bryse Wilson was called upon to make a surprise start in Pittsburgh Monday night and he delivered with five scoreless innings to become the fourth Braves’ pitcher this season to win in their major league debut. Nick Markakis drove in Freddie Freeman in the first inning to stake Wilson to an early lead. Ender Inciarte came through in the seventh gunning down Adeiny Hechavarria at the plate to keep it intact.
Following the game, most of the talk centered on Wilson’s performance.
“It is unbelievable. Just going out before the game, I was the most nervous I have ever been. Getting out there and doing what I love to do is a great feeling.”
