Tyler Flowers had a banner day

Tyler Flowers entered the game last night as a pinch hitter after signing a contract extension with the Braves earlier in the day and promptly deposited a two run homer over the left field fence. Between his big shot and a four hit game from the resurgent Ender Inciarte the Braves were able to break the Rays’ winning streak of eight games.

Flowers re-signs with Braves for another season or possibly two

As mentioned above Tyler Flowers decided to re-up with the Braves for a season and possibly a second. The deal is structured somewhat like his last one with a one year guarantee and a club option for 2020. All in all the deal comes out to $6 million dollars in guaranteed money which is a steal for Flowers in this market.

The NL is up for the taking. Why not Atlanta?

Sure the odds have been against the Braves all season long, but the National League is open for the taking if any team wants to get hot in this final month and a half of baseball. So with that said it begs the question, why not Atlanta?

Austin Riley is doing that thing again where he goes supernova at the end of the season

Austin Riley is back to hitting big time home runs at a staggering rate and its been rumored that Riley could be a potential September call-up candidate. In other news Joey Wentz made his long awaited return to the mound and did well.

David Wright has moved up to Triple A, just one step away from a return to the majors

In a true feel good story form David Wright made his way back to Triple A Las Vegas yesterday after his long battle with back problems. However unlikely it is that we see Wright don the Mets colors this season, it still is amazing to see him still chasing his way back to the big leagues.

The Phillies lost on a TOOTBLAN play

You may have heard of the Barves before, but last night Philadelphia became the PhiLOLies after they lost on a play that will go down in the all time nincompoop highlight reels. Vince Velasquez (a pitcher) for some reason was in the game pinch running in a high leverage situation and forgot to tag up on a fly ball. Seems like that last part was kind of important.

As the postseason roster deadline approaches, who is most likely to be traded before?

September first is the final day a player can be added to the roster and still qualify to play for that team in the postseason. Most notably Justin Verlander was a last second addition to the Astros last season (we saw how that turned out). Who will it be this season?
