Adam Duvall, Mike Foltynewicz discuss Atlanta’s Game 2 win

Braves flip the script and get back in the win column.

Mike Foltynewicz turned in a spectacular performance while Adam Duvall delivered a big pinch-hit two-run home run to give the Atlanta Braves some breathing room in a 3-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The series is now tied 1-1 and will now shift to St. Louis for Game 3 on Sunday where Mike Soroka will make his postseason debut for Atlanta. As you would expect, there was a much different vibe around the postgame interviews this time around.

Duvall talked about hearing the boos from the crowd as he stepped to the plate to pinch hit for Foltynewicz and said that he just wanted to put together a good at-bat. He turned those boos into cheers quickly.

Josh Donaldson discussed facing Jack Flaherty and how it was important that the Braves turn the page following their Game 1 loss.

Mark Melancon put last night’s rough outing behind him as he held the Cardinals in check to secure the win. Melancon talked about the job that Max Fried did in the eighth and getting another opportunity after Thursday’s rough outing.

Much different tone to Brian Snitker’s presser at the podium tonight. Snitker talked about Foltynewicz’s performance, the decision to pinch hit for him in the seventh and not pulling Brian McCann for a pinch hitter.

Freddie Freeman gave his thoughts on Foltynewicz’s performance and on how big it was evening the series before it shifts to St. Louis.

Foltynewicz became just the third Braves pitcher ever to throw seven shutout innings without a walk joining Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux. He is joined at the podium by Duvall which is fitting given that both players spent a portion of the season in Triple-A before getting another chance to make an impact at the major league level.

Nick Markakis on how Game 2 was a must-win for the Braves.

Dansby Swanson talked about Folty’s performance and the crowd reaction when Duvall was announced to pinch hit in the seventh.
