A familiar name could be found on the 2020 Hall of Fame ballot, which was released on Monday, with Rafael Furcal joining former teammate Andruw Jones as potential Braves inductees next July. Furcal was an integral part of the early-2000’s Braves teams that found immense offensive success, and will now have an opportunity to have his value gauged by the BBWAA.
The 2000 NL Rookie of the Year, Furcal was best known throughout his career for his incredible arm, which was clocked at close to 100 MPH during his time in Atlanta. He hit .284 and stole 184 bases from 2000-2005 with the Braves before signing with the Dodgers that offseason. His Atlanta tenure was an exciting one, from his incredible defensive talents to his blazing speed, Furcal was one of the more electrifying players in baseball.
Furcal finished his career in 2014, briefly serving in a limited capacity for the Marlins. His 314 career steals rank 155th all-time, which as his calling card is unlikely to portend a Hall of Fame induction for Furcal, but he did have a measurable impact with the Braves during his time with the organization.

Andruw Jones on 2020 Hall of Fame Ballot
The most likely Braves inductee, Andruw Jones, will remain on the ballot after receiving 7.5% of the vote last year. Those odds seem insurmountable, but Jones’ decorated defensive career could catch the eyes of voters as time passes. Best of luck to Jones as he hopes to join teammates Chipper Jones, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, and Greg Maddux in Cooperstown.
