#Braves are going to hire Ben Sestanovich from #Padres to join Atlanta as an AGM per sources.

Had been Padres’ assistant head of player dev. Well-regarded in industry.
While many are awaiting further Braves additions to their roster for the 2020 season, it seems Atlanta also is focused on strengthening its front office. General Manager Alex Anthopoulos added to his staff on Tuesday with the addition of Ben Sestanovich, formerly of the San Diego Padres. Sestanovich will fill one of the Assistant General Manager roles under Anthopoulos. This adds to the continuing trend over the past several months of the Braves and Anthopoulos remaking the front office.
Sestanovich was the Assistant Director of Player Development for the Padres during the 2019 season. Under General Manager A.J. Preller, the Padres have put together arguably one of, if not the best, farm systems in the majors. With a significant part of the Braves talent on the farm moving to the upper levels of the minor leagues, Sestanovich could conceivably play a role in helping in the development of Braves draft picks and minor league additions new to the organization.
As Ben Nicholson-Smith mentions, Sestanovich is highly regarded around baseball. As is the case with most of Anthopoulos’s moves on and off the field since he arrived in Atlanta, Sestanovich will hopefully play a critical and successful role in helping the Braves maintain a productive farm system for the foreseeable future.
