The Atlanta Braves scored four runs in the first inning of Monday’s home opener and never looked back as they went on to capture an 8-0 win. Sean Newcomb only lasted four innings but didn’t allow a run and the bullpen this time around made the lead stand up.

Reliever A.J. Minter is scheduled to throw live batting practice at SunTrust Park during Tuesday’s off-day and if all goes well he could be activated from the injured list in time for Thursday’s series finale against Chicago. The news isn’t as good for reliever Darren O’Day who is still suffering from what is being called a forearm strain. O’Day is shut down from throwing for the time being and there is no timetable for his return.

Cincinnati Reds prospect Hunter Greene has an injured elbow and is headed for Tommy John surgery which will sideline him for all of 2019 and likely some of the 2020 season as well.
The New York Yankees have placed infielder Miguel Andujar on the 10-day injured list. Aaron Boone told reporters on Monday that Andujar has a small labrum tear and may require season-ending surgery. The team is going to try non-surgical treatment first.
The Rockies have placed infielder Daniel Murphy on the 10-day injured list due to a fractured left index finger. There is no time table for his return but there is concern that he may have tendon or ligament damage as well which would sideline him for several weeks.
The Reds traded right-hander Matt Wisler to the San Diego Padres on Monday in exchange for right-hander Diomar Lopez. Wisler had been designated for assignment by the Reds as one of their final roster cuts before announcing their Opening Day roster.
