Braves use big ninth inning comeback to split doubleheader with Indians
Atlanta’s struggles ended on Saturday as they snapped their four-game losing streak with a comeback in the nightcap of the doubleheader. Julio Teheran allowed five runs in just 4 2/3 innings in an 8-4 loss in Game 1.
The Braves fell behind early in Game 2 as Touki Toussaint was tagged for seven runs in just 1 1/3 innings but Atlanta scored five times in the ninth including a go-ahead two-run double by Ronald Acuña Jr. to complete the comeback in an 8-7 win.
The Boston Red Sox have had a rotten start to the season and the continued on Saturday when pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was placed on the 10-day injured list. Eovaldi is dealing with loose bodies in his elbow and is reportedly leaning towards having minor surgery to clean it up.
Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge left Saturday’s game with an oblique injury and is likely headed to the injured list.
Veteran left-hander Gio Gonzalez has opted out of his minor league deal with the Yankees who will now have 48 hours to either release him or add him to the major league roster.
The Miami Marlins announced on Saturday that they have fired hitting coach Mike Pagliarulo. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Jeff Livesey.
