The Braves announced a pair of transactions today, neither too surprising, as Bryse Wilson returns to Atlanta.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett. Following last night’s game, RHP Touki Toussaint was optioned to Gwinnett and RHP Shane Carle was returned to the Stripers.— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) April 21, 2019
Touki Toussaint struggled in his game two start, bouncing several fastballs and showcasing erratic command in general, before being lifted after just 1.1 innings in the Braves come from behind victory against the Cleveland Indians last night. It’s a bit of a surprising move as Touki did look great in his first outing, but it’s clear the Braves are in need of arms that can pitch in the short term so they acted swiftly following the tough start.
Shane Carle was also returned back to Gwinnett following his fantastic appearance, salvaging the game for the Braves. Shane threw 3.2 innings and kept the Indians in check allowing the Braves to comeback and pick up the win last night. He was named the 26th man for yesterdays doubleheader so the Braves did not have to use an option. That appearance lowered Shane’s ERA on the season from 9.64 to 5.40 and displayed what we saw from him a lot of last year. Don’t be surprised if he finds his way back to Atlanta very soon.
Bryse last pitched on the 16th when he put up a line of 5.2IP 6H 3R 1ER BB 6K against the Charlotte Knights.
