Atlanta Braves News
Atlanta was one strike away from recording a 5-4 win but instead suffered another painful 9-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Mike Foltynewicz was solid in his return but no one is going to remember that after the team’s latest bullpen hiccup.
The Braves made several roster moves before Saturday’s game. Bryce Wilson was optioned to Gwinnett to make room for Foltynewicz’s return. Additionally, reliever Jesse Biddle was placed on the injured list with a right thigh contusion/right groin strain. Shane Carle was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.
Biddle knows that he will need to get himself right physically but also mentally during his stay on the injured list. He has struggled with his command and has issued eight walks over his last 2 2/3 innings. He talked about his recent struggles with the AJC’s Gabe Burns.
“I’m really frustrated and pretty confused,” Biddle said. “But that’s part of the deal. I’m a professional. It’s my job to take the ball every time they call my name. … Truthfully, I’m just not executing my game. I’m not seeing the same snap on all my pitches. It’s not consistent. I need to focus on being more consistent.”
Right-hander Chris Archer was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday by the Pirates due to right thumb inflammation. The called up Michael Feliz to take his spot on the active roster.
