Braves among vote leaders at every position in latest All-Star Game ballot update

The Braves appear poised to be well-represented at the 2019 All-Star Game

The Braves got really hot right in time to help buoy fan interest during All Star Game balloting and it shows.

It is hardly a surprise that a team as good as the Braves that also has an energized fan base has some players getting a lot of votes. Freddie Freeman, Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, and others all have a ton of name recognition nationally and have the performance to back up their All Star Game candidacies.

That said, it looks like the Braves could have voting finalists at every position for the All Star Game which is pretty nuts.

If the cut-off for the next round of voting were to happen today, the Braves would have at least one finalist for every position including two in the outfield in Ronald Acuna Jr. and Nick Markakis. Being the leading vote-getter at this point (although Ozzie should be commended for leading amongst second basemen) doesn’t mean as much under the new two round voting system as much as just finishing as a finalist. After that, the vote totals reset and Braves fans will have to continue to stuff the ballot box to see a bunch of Braves starting.

Freddie Freeman has deservedly moved up to second amongst first basemen and could/should overtake Josh Bell before the cut-off. Dansby Swanson lags way behind Javier Baez at shortstop but appears safe as a finalist. Brian McCann has held firm in second place among catchers and his performance over the past week won’t do anything but help his case. Josh Donaldson jumped into the top three third baseman and he may have the most tenuous grasp on an All Star spot given how strong the candidates at the hot corner are.
