Despite recent comments suggesting that he will continue to play his starters on a regular basis, Brian Snitker decided to give Dansby Swanson a rest and go with Johan Camargo tonight at shortstop. Beyond the day off for Swanson, this could be an astute match-up play as well. Camargo has seven hits in 21 career at-bats against deGrom, good for a .915 OPS. Along with Camargo, Josh Donaldson and Freddie Freeman have multiple home runs against deGrom in their careers. A well-timed big fly could be the difference maker tonight like it was last year when Freeman delivered the game-winning home run.

The Mets will counter with a different line-up from the previous series against Atlanta. Dominic Smith will get the start in left field, adding a bit more offensive punch to the Mets order. However, the key to the series for Atlanta may be silencing the top of the order. In their careers, Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso have produced a .914 OPS and a 1.187 OPS against the Braves, respectively. In six games this year, Alonso has two home runs and six RBIs. There is a reason he was just announced as a home run derby participant.
