Mike Soroka named to National League All-Star team

Soroka receives a much deserved All-Star nod

Mike Soroka will join Freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuña Jr. as part of the National League’s 2019 MLB All-Star team. Soroka was announced to the NL’s pitching staff as reserves and pitchers were named in a selection show on Sunday evening.

Soroka has been outstanding this season posting a 2.13 ERA (3.14 FIP) in 14 starts this season. Here is a look at the rest of the NL roster. Soroka predictably was all smiles while discussing his All-Star nod.

Mets rookie Pete Alonso and outfielder Jeff McNeil will make their first All-Star game appearances for the NL squad. Pittsburgh’s Josh Bell is also a reserve after finishing second to Freeman in the fan vote.

Former Braves Tommy La Stella, Mike Minor and Charlie Morton were named to the American League squad. La Stella and Minor will be making their first appearance in the All-Star Game while it will be Morton’s second appearance.

The MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 9 in Cleveland.
